Country star with 25 Billboard-charting hits to play Sept. 6 in downtown Edgerton

We’re turning the streets of downtown Edgerton into one big party on Friday, Sept. 6 as Chilimania 2019 weekend kicks off with Country Edge, an outdoor concert headlined by country music star Craig Morgan.

“We have always been committed to bringing top-quality entertainers to Country Edge and this year is no different,” said Country Edge co-organizer Casey Schmeling. “Craig Morgan has been a big name for a long time, and we are so proud to be bringing him to Edgerton. This is not a show to be missed!”

Morgan, one of country music’s best-loved artists, has charted 25 songs on Billboard and thrills crowds with signature hits including “Bonfire,” Almost Home,” “Redneck Yacht Club,” “International Harvester,” “This Ole Boy,” “Wake Up Loving You” and the four-week No. 1, “That’s What I Love About Sunday.”

Rounding out the lineup is Saving Savannah, a dynamite Milwaukee-based act playing “country music as it should be.” The band also appeared on the Country Edge stage in 2018 opening for Morgan Wallen, and was so well-received by the crowd that they earned an invite back again this year.

Chilimania's Country Edge

What is Country Edge?

Now in its fourth year and held on the Chilimania grounds, the only chili you’ll find during Country Edge will be for sale from our food vendors. What you will find is a lineup full of some of the finest local, regional and national Country music acts kicking off the Chilimania weekend on our Main Stage.

“Country Edge was created as a way to cater to all the country music fans in southern Wisconsin,” Schmeling said. “For years we got requests to book country acts, but it was difficult to mix them into our rock-based lineup. We decided to dedicate a separate event specifically for the country-music crowd.”

In just a few short years, Country Edge has gained a reputation for bringing big-time talent to small-town Edgerton. The lineup routinely features up-and-comers and hitmakers alike, supported by some of the finest regional talent from Wisconsin and beyond. For instance, Country Edge 2018 was headlined by rising star Morgan Wallen and his #1 single “Up Down.”

The Original Chilimania

What is Chilimania?

Since 1990, the Chilimania festival has been held annually on the Saturday after Labor Day in downtown Edgerton, Wisconsin. Started as a Jaycees fundraiser, the festival grew so much over the years that it was eventually spun off into its own 501(c)(3) organization, Chilimania, Inc.

Chilimania now spans two days in early September: a Friday-night country music concert and street party known as Country Edge, followed all day on Saturday by the main event, Chilimania, including two chili cook-off categories, a 3PM public chili tasting and People’s Choice award voting, as well as Edgerton’s Best Bloody Mary contest. The 2019 dates are Sept. 6-7.

Chilimania’s mission is to promote the Edgerton business community, social responsibility, and to raise funds to support the education of our youth. Each spring, proceeds from the previous year’s festival fund scholarships to graduating Edgerton High School seniors.

In May 2019, Chilimania awarded 10 scholarships in the amount of $2,500 each. The organization also made more than $5,000 in donations to a wide variety of community-based organizations and projects. For more information, visit chilimania.com.
