Edgerton’s largest annual festival!
Chilimania is all about supporting our youth and community. We’re home to the Wisconsin State Championship CASI-sanctioned chili cook-off, a traditional chili cook-off, a salsa contest, public chili tasting, best Bloody Mary competition, a 5K/10K run & walk, 12 hours of live music, food, fun, and more.
It all began on a cold, wet autumn day in 1990 … dreamers, planners, cookers, musicians and skeptics, all together for the first of many fun-filled Chilimania festivals. As the years passed, we dialed in on a recipe for success: Chili, music, friends, fun, and (hopefully) some sunshine, and all for a good cause!
Today, Chilimania is arguably one of the Midwest’s, if not the country’s, most entertaining and well-organized chili cook-off competitions. We offer a little something for all ages and interest. Stop by for a bite, some entertainment, or try your hand at one or more of the chili cooking contests.
Since 1990, the festival has been held annually on the Saturday after Labor Day in beautiful downtown, Edgerton, Wisconsin. Started as a Jaycees fundraiser, the festival grew so much over the years that it was eventually spun off into its own 501(c)3 organization, Chilimania, Inc.
Chilimania now spans two days in early September: a Friday-night country music concert and street party known as Country Edge, followed all day on Saturday by the main event, Chilimania, including the Chili Chase 5K/10K and the Best Bloody Mary contest.
Giving back to the community
Our mission is to promote the Edgerton business community, social responsibility, and to raise funds to support the education of our youth. Each spring, proceeds from the previous year’s festival fund scholarships to graduating Edgerton High School seniors.
For the most part, Chilimania has had the privilege of giving out four scholarships each spring. However, due to the overwhelming success of our 25th anniversary celebration on Sept. 6, 2014, we were able to award six (6) $1,500 scholarships at the Edgerton High School Awards ceremony on May 20, 2015. A strong showing from Chilimania 2015 saw us up the total number of scholarships to seven (7) for the Class of 2016, totaling $10,500!
In 2018, Chilimania has upped the value of its seven scholarships to $2,500 each. We also made donations to a wide variety of community-based organizations and projects. Thanks to everyone who supports Chilimania for helping us help the community!
We thank all those who have attended, sponsored, competed, and/or volunteered at our event to make these scholarships possible!
